How can ordering every week help the school?
If every school family placed ONE $25 order every week, for things we would normally do or buy, the scrip program could take in almost $10,000.00 in gross profits in one year and each family that had children in our school could get back close to $100.00 in a scrip rebate at the end of the school year.

What is Scrip? How does the discount / rebate work?
"Scrip" come in the form of prepaid gift cards, and are used exactly like an ordinary gift card that you would buy at places like Walmart, Shaw's, etc. The only difference is that they are sold to us at a discount, and then you enjoy half of the discounted amount in the form of a CASH rebate, paid out in December and June. For example, if you buy a $50 Hannaford scrip card, it costs you $50, but it comes with a 5% discount, which comes to $2.50. You get $1.25 and St. John gets $1.25. Your share results in you getting 2.5% off your groceries every week, if you buy dilligently.
Many stores in the area have MUCH higher rebates. For example, LL Bean scrip cards come with a 15% discount/rebate!

Start in January with a $25 or $50 WalMart card, or other retailer where you normally Christmas shop, then you'll be well prepared for shopping when the holidays are "suddenly here!"
Scrip is a popular fundraiser for our school because parishioners and families don't have to sell anything. Parishioners and families produce revenue by making regular household purchases they would make anyway. We are asking you to think differently about the way you shop. Groceries, clothing, toys, gifts, prescriptions, even gasoline can be purchased with scrip. For example, if you buy $100 of LL Bean scrip, you get $100 of LL Bean gift certificates. The St. John's community buys the $100 of LL Bean gift certificates at a discount for $85. You get $100 of value for your $100 purchase, our community makes $15.
It will add up quickly! On the order form is a place at the top for you, your family members or friends to place your child's/family's name to receive credit towards your rebate when using the order form. Encourage family and friends to use our Scrip program and credit the sale towards your child so your rebate can grow!
How do I place a Scrip order?
Orders can be placed every week by
downloading and filling out this form (download here) and sending the form into School or Pre-School with your child. Orders need to be in by MONDAY AT 8:30AM. The orders are usually back and passed out on Fridays. The order form has a place to indicate how you would like your orders to be sent home/picked up
