Welcome new parents! This section is just for you, to help get you up to speed with the various
programs and activities our school offers as well as a "guide" to our website and where to find what you need.
Here's some of the more popular things you'll be hearing about:
Before the new school year
The Spring before your child begins at St. John, there is an Open House in the school cafeteria. The Principal and teachers review the curriculum and answer questions. Registration information can be filled out at this time.
Before the start of school, there is an orientation meeting in the school cafeteria. Student and Parent Handbooks are distributed at that time. The handbooks cover the rules and regulations as well as expectations of you and your child. It is beneficial to read the Handbook carefully.
At orientation, you will have the opportunity to visit your child's classroom and ask questions of the teacher. You will be given a typical day agenda as well as the schedule of specials including gym, French, computer, and music.
First days of school
The hot lunch program does not begin until the second week of school, a menu is sent home and you may select which lunches your child will eat. Forms may be filled in weekly or monthly and are due Thursday before the week you are ordering for.
For Kindergarten students, parents are allowed to bring their child to the classroom to get settled for the first week only. After that, Kindergarten and other students remain at their own table in the cafeteria until called by their teacher.

PTFA
The PTFA meets every 1st Thursday from 6-7pm at the school cafeteria. PTFA is a chance for parents and teachers to gather and discuss upcoming social events and fundraisers. Committees are formed, things get done and it's a GREAT way to be involved in your children's school at a very core level. And yes, it's fun too!
