National Handwriting Contest Winners!
St. John's students, Catherine Campbell-York of Albion and Hannah Duperry of Oakland, were recently named the 2007 State Handwriting 2nd and 3rd grade winners respectively, in the National Handwriting Contest sponsored by Zaner-Bloser Educational Publishers.
Catherine's entry was chosen as the National Winner among Grade 2 Private School Students. She and Hannah, along with the other St. John School winners, Natalie Greene, Grade 1, Patrick Greatorex, Grade 4 and Rachel Sirois, Grade 5, were honored at a special assembly last Friday morning.
Catherine and Hannah, their teachers and school principals received beautiful engraved wood pens, a special award certificate, and a $50 gift certificate for their school to purchase Zaner-Bloser learning materials. In addition, Catherine will receive the following prizes for winning the National Award, a Nintendo DS Brain Age package, $500 savings bond, a special award certificate and t-shirts for her classmates, family and teachers. St. John School receives a $100 certificate for Zaner-Bloser learning materials.
Catherine's entry has now been entered into competition for the Grand National Winner. If chosen, she will receive prizes valued at more than $1500 and her classroom will receive a computer with Zaner-Bloser Handwriting software.
