Welcome to St. John Catholic School in Winslow Maine

As we continue to grow and offer our families the best education possible, beginning in Fall 2010, we are pleased to formally announce that we will be expanding to the 6th grade. We are excited at all the possibilities this will bring to our school. It will be an amazing opportunity for us and for our families. We continue to pride ourselves on our academic excellence, student-centered atmosphere, and our values based education.

On Saturday, March 27th, families from St. John Regional Catholic School and St. John Preschool gathered for their annual PTFA sponsored Easter Egg Hunt. families enjoyed a pot luck breakfast, Easter crafts, an egg hunt and the older students enjoyed a Jelly Bean Mania with Father Dan Baillargeon.

On March 15th and 16th, the preschool students at St. John Preschool hopped to raise money for JDRF - Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. St. John Regional Catholic School has two students who are Type I Diabetics and the school has used different fundraisers throughout the year to donate to this important cause.

The preschoolers spent the two weeks prior learning about Diabetes through a video "You Can't Catch Diabetes from a Friend" and through a question and answer presentation by the third grader and first grader who has diabetes. Janice Souviney, Director of the Preschool, spent a few weeks helping her young students understand and then the preschoolers and their families raised money by getting donations for how much the students jumped in a minute or by flat donations. This effort raised $1,347.00 for JDRF.

Special thanks to all those who participated and to our young students who understood the importance of funding research to find a cure.

On Saturday, March 27th, representatives from each grade at St. John participated in the Bowl for Kids' Sake at Sparetime Recreation in Waterville. The students team was sponsored and all proceeds for the bowl a thon go to support Big Brothers/ Big Sisters.
